Spend a Day with Me in Perry, New York

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the most beautiful Airbnb in Perry, New York. You might ask where the heck that is? The town is located about 90 minutes southeast of Buffalo and is situated next to the incredible Letchworth State Park (known as the Grand Canyon of the East). I absolutely love the unique and charming small towns in our beautiful state of New York and Perry is certainly one of them. The area is great to visit any time of the year, with a variety of different things to see and do for each season. Here is how I spent my time in Perry.

First, I want to tell you about where I stayed because you will immediately want to check your calendar and make your plans. My host Amanda was so nice and easy to work with, especially when my plans were derailed by a family emergency. Kindness goes a long way with me and she made rescheduling super easy. The pictures I saw online were beautiful, but I never imagined it would be so much more in person. The decor and attention to detail are incredible and the space is welcoming and comfortable! Two bedrooms, two baths, an enormous, fully stocked kitchen and views for days. My favorite part of the space was the wall that showcases things to do in the area! So creative!

During the day my friend and I visited a few of the shops in town and then drove back later in the day for drinks and food. Here are the places we visited!

  • Eleven Covington - this unique store showcases all handmade art, jewelry and furniture. I purchased a hand painted notepad and a pair of earrings!

  • Butter Meat Co. - This adorable shop offers fresh coffee, soft serve ice cream, local dairy products, unique spices and other pantry goods. We ordered lattes but I hear the ice cream is definitely worth trying!

  • East Hill Creamery - This local cheese shop is worth the stop! They have an event venue on site, offer tours and tastings for $10 and a grab-n-go shop perfect for a snack or to take on a picnic. Oh and if that wasn’t enough, there is a cheese vending machine open 24/7 in case you come and the store is closed!

  • Silver Lake Brewing - The perfect place to stop for a quick beer or to hang out and grab a flight. In the summer, there are picnic tables to enjoy your drinks outside!

  • Ration Wine Bar - We loved it here! The cocktails were great, all the food was delicious and I have to give credit to the wonderful lady that was working the night we visited. She was bartending, serving and doing all of the cooking! We tried multiple small plates from the menu and an incredible dessert. They also do a Sunday Brunch that I would love to try. I highly recommend stopping here if you have time.

We of course had to build in time to visit Letchworth State Park. Each time I am there I am in awe of the beauty. This state park is special any time of year, but there is something so peaceful about visiting in the winter. No fee to get in, no crowds and no traffic! Keep in mind if visiting in the winter, some of the main road will be closed off so it’s best to enter at the Castile entrance to see the waterfalls and scenic overlooks. It is possible to enter through the Perry entrance, but you can only go North to Mt. Morris. Even if you cannot make it for an overnight trip, visiting Letchworth is worth the drive.

Side note: Our Airbnb host graciously offers the Empire Pass to borrow. The pass gives you free entry into the park if visiting in the high season.

Even though I was only in Perry for a short time, I really enjoyed seeing all that this small town has to offer. I hope to visit again in the warmer months to experience some more of the outdoor activities such as hiking at Letchworth, checking out Silver Lake, maybe seeing a drive in movie at the Charcoal Corral and checking out the Perry Farmer’s Market! Let me know in the comments if you’ve been to Perry or plan on going!

As always, happy traveling!!!!!
