Catskills Winter Getaway

I was in desperate need of a getaway. A chance to relax, laugh about ridiculous things and have a fun adventure. I have been to the Catskills many times but never to the Northern town of Windham. One of my favorite pages to follow on Instagram is Eastwind Hotel & Bar. I just love the unique setting of their hotel rooms. We booked the Lushna Suite for three nights and the trip was well on its way!

Check in was super easy! We received a text with the code to our suite a few hours before arrival along with a list of area restaurants offering takeout. We opted for fresh made sandwiches and pizzas from Hickory Hill Market which is a two minute drive from the hotel. It ended up being a great stop for gourmet snacks and local brews.

Shortly after check in, the staff at Eastwind showed up at our door with hot mulled wine, free winter beanies, and a s’mores kit! If you text them they will come light your personal bonfire at the time you request.

There are two saunas available for guest use on the property, both within walking distance from the cabins. We did not partake in the breakfast that was available to order, but each room does come with its own coffee maker, refrigerator and bottled water.

I wanted to surprise the girls with a special treat from a friend of mine that started a business called Tipsy Whips. They are boozy frozen pudding shots that come in a variety of flavors and come in a 1.5 oz plastic shot glass with with lid. Wooden spoons are included. They were nice enough to gift me an assortment of flavors to try and we loved them all, but we especially loved the Butter Bombs. Yum!

  • Full disclosure here. Upon arrival to Eastwind, we discovered that parking is only allowed near the Cabins for drop off and then cars are asked to park a short 3 minute walk away. This probably isn’t an issue in any other season besides winter, but definitely a chilly walk back!

On our second day there, we went on an epic Guided Winter Hike. I was lucky enough to stumble upon an Instagram page that led me to Brian’s Airbnb Experience Hiking & Photo Adventure. The best $90 I’ve spent. I cannot recommend him enough. He caters to all skill levels and provides all the photos from the hike. No need to ever take your phone out of your pocket. The hike lasted about three hours and we cannot was to book Brian again in the future!

We opted to dine out for dinner that night at Peekamoose Restaurant. A bit of a drive from Eastwind but a must hit when in The Catskills. We shared a bunch of small dishes and loved all of them.

Our last full day we met up with our dear friend for some breakfast, shopping, snowmobiling and cocktails. We started the day hoping to go to the Phoenicia Diner for breakfast but they are currently only doing takeout or heated outdoor seating. Since it was about 8 degrees that day, we opted to save it for next time and head to The Emerson Resort instead. Great breakfast and we had the whole dining room to ourselves!

We headed to the tiny town of Roxbury to check out a shop and then off to Snowmobile. Yes, we are crazy.. it was freezing! The only place to snowmobile in the Catskills that I found was at Rip Van Winkle Ranch. Their info can be found here and if you call they do not answer so just show up! The cost is $40 cash per person for a 30 minute ride around the property.

The highlight of the afternoon was the stop at Prospect at Scribners for some cocktails and snacks. We shared giant pretzels, house made hummus and truffle fries. No reservation needed if just stopping in for a drink, but are necessary for dinner.

We spent our last night dancing, laughing, having drinks and letting loose. Exactly what I needed and I cannot wait to do it all again.

On our way out of town we stopped for a big breakfast at the Catskill Mountain Country Store and Catskill Outpost for some fun merch!
